Seen a knitted item you’ve fallen in love with but don’t have the skills or experience to knit it for yourself?
We can help! With over 30 years of hand-knitting experience, TZÜK offers custom-knit and on-demand services. Here’s how it works:
The Pattern
You can either send us a pattern you’ve found (or send us the link to the pattern), or ask us to source a pattern for you. Sometimes just a picture is enough to help us find the perfect pattern for you!
If you’d like to find your own pattern, we recommend browsing through the designs and patterns on Ravelry.com.
Once a pattern is chosen, we’ll estimate the cost of custom-knitting the item and let you know. On approval, we’ll send you an invoice for the amount. All custom-knit services must be pre-paid for the project to begin.
Please note: From experience, we know that patterns often contain tiny errors. We’ll always do our best to spot and correct errors to make sure your finished product is as beautiful as it can be, but we cannot be held responsible if any errors from the pattern slip into the work.
The Yarn
Next, we’ll help you source the perfect yarn for your project. We’ll let you know how much you need, how much it cost, and how long delivery will take. We’ll then send you an invoice so that you can make payment for the yarn. (All yarn must be pre-paid before we can order it for your project.)
We typically work with 100% natural premium merino yarn. We’re happy to use a lesser-quality yarn on request, but we guarantee you’ll be happier with your finished product if it’s made of merino.
If you have a yarn on hand that you’d like us to use, you’ll need to arrange to have it delivered to us.
Please note: TZÜK cannot be held responsible for any variations in yarn and yarn colors. Natural yarns, especially those that have been hand-dyed, often have slight color variations, which adds to their uniqueness.
The Knitting
All TZÜK products are entirely hand knit using traditional means (i.e., two hands and a set of needles). This guarantees that love, care, and attention goes into your product, making it even more unique.
Hand-knitting takes time. When you’ve approved your pattern, we’ll calculate the knitting time required to create your item and let you know when you can expect to receive the finished product.
As a general rule of thumb, the average knitting time is 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the item and its complexity. We often send clients pictures of work in progress. They love being involved in the creative process!
Please note: Knitting time is calculated assuming the yarn to be used is available and on hand, and that patterns are error free. TZÜK cannot be held responsible for delays in yarn delivery or delays caused by pattern errors and corrections.
The Delivery
When products are completed, we’ll let you know right away. If you live nearby, you can pick up your finished product at our location, or we can hand-deliver items for a small fee.
We can also arrange to have items delivered to you via Canada Post, UPS, or FedEx. We’ll estimate shipping costs and send you an invoice for that amount. All shipping costs must be paid before we can send you your item.
Payment and Refunds
All payments can be made by credit card via our online store, which uses a secure payment system, or by PayPal. If you live nearby, payment may also be made in cash, and a receipt will be provided as proof of purchase.
Yarn purchases are non-refundable. Payment for custom-knitting services are refundable until knitting has begun. Once knitting has begun, we can no longer refund any payments.
